Ahh,That is Rugby Cement Works,seen here in bilious green and whilst under construction.This,along with a "public" school of the same name,a game of football, played with an oval ball,invented by William Webb-ellis,scholar and cheating B**tard,at the ubiquitous school,Rupert Brooke, poet,who died of a mosquito bite whilst on campaign during WW1 in the Dardenelles,Incidentally a resident and former scholar of THAT school, Lewis Carroll, AKA Charles Lutwidge Dodgson,author of Alice in Wonderland,former pupil of.... you guessed it! THAT school! (dearie me IT does have a LOT to answer for),a railway station with the longest platform in the UK,the second ever (I kid you not)aqueduct constructed in England to carry a canal over a river built at Cosford,near Rugby by James Brindley on the old Oxford Canal.The junction of the Qld oxford and the present 1840 cut is at Brownsover. By the by the hall at Brownsover is where Frank Whittle did his research on the jet engine; are Rugby's claims to fame (or notoriety).
